Water Resources Service Worker I, II or III

The Water Resources Service Worker, I, II, III performs responsible semi-skilled or skilled work in the installation, repair and maintenance of water and sewer lines and appurtenances for the Water Resources Maintenance and Construction Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Water Resources Service Worker I

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Some experience in the use of common hand and power tools
  • Valid NC driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to obtain Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement within 12 months of hire
  • Ability to work regularly and to perform manual labor for extended periods often under unfavorable conditions

Water Resources Service Worker II

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent;
  • Grade I Wastewater Operator’s certificate or Grade C Water Distribution certificate
  • Some experience in the Maintenance, repair and/or construction of water and sewer lines;
  • Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement and good driving record;
  • Demonstrable skills equivalent to two years as a Utility Serviceworker I.

Water Resources Service Worker III

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent;
  • Considerable experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of water and/or sewer lines, operating equipment, and making service connections;
  • Valid Grade III Wastewater Operator’s certificate or Grade B Water Distribution certificate;
  • Possession of flagger certification from the NC Department of Transportation;
  • Valid Class B or A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker endorsement and good driving record;
  • Demonstrable skills equivalent to two years’ experience as a Utility Serviceworker II.

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm. On-call rotation required. Paid bi-weekly.

This position will remain open until Tuesday, March 25th 2025 at 11:59pm.
