Position: Street Seasonal Maintenance Worker
Department: Street Department
Supervisor: Streets Director
FLSA: Part-Time Non-Exempt; work >1000 hrs per year
The Seasonal Maintenance Worker performs work of a manual nature, which does not require a high degree of manipulative skill or an acquired skill or previous experience in order to do an effective job. Work is generally performed under the immediate direction of a supervisor, but many types of work assigned may be very routine and repetitive in nature and after once learned can be carried on without difficulty and only under general supervision.
DUTIES/FUNCTIONS
- Learns and operates equipment such as push and riding mowers, string trimmers, edgers
- Maintains ditches and street areas free of trash
- Mowing and weed eating
- Use mops, brooms, paintbrushes and rollers and work with cleaning fluids, paints, cleaning agents or similar solutions using only normal protective equipment.
- Work cooperatively with other City employees and the general public.
- Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
- Duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
- There is no experience or training requirement for this entry-level position.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
- Lift arms above shoulder level.
- Travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
- Move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) short distances (20 feet or less).
- Move light objects (less than 20 pounds) long distances (more than 20 feet).
- Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time.
WORK DURATION AND SCHEDULE
- Duration of season is April-September
- Work hours Monday-Thursday 7am-4pm; Friday 7am-1pm
