Our Access Bus service is dedicated to helping older adults and individuals with disabilities maintain their independence and continue living safely in their homes. As an Access Bus Driver, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our residents have safe, reliable transportation to appointments, errands, and community activities.

Schedule
- Monday - Friday. NO Weekends!
- Hours of operation are 8am - 4:30pm (scheduled hours may vary within these hours)
- Approximately 12-20 hours per week
- 2-3 days per week
Essential Functions
- Drive and maintain a bus route and schedule; transport passengers along route; assist passengers in loading and unloading as needed; operate specialized loading and unloading equipment to assist wheelchair passengers; assist passengers with packages.
- Collect and record bus daily routes; Report accidents and road hazards; provide staff support in accident investigations.
- Prepare and inspect assigned vehicle for daily operations; check and maintain fluid levels; maintain and submit vehicle mileage record as necessary; maintain the interior and exterior appearance of the bus; report any maintenance problems.
- Ensure safety regulations, rules and codes are enforced and obeyed by passengers in assigned vehicle; report any problems; obtain customer signatures as needed.
- Collect and distribute meals to Meals on Wheels volunteers for delivery as needed.
- Provide quality customer service to passengers; answer questions and provide information regarding bus schedules, rules, regulations, routes, and other information; refer sensitive inquiries and complaints to appropriate staff.
- Fill in for Transportation Coordinator and other bus drivers as needed.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- No experience necessary
* Some experience in operating transit vehicles or similar equipment is desirable. - Equivalent to high school diploma.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, Class E driver's license
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR certification
- Knowledge of City and State driving rules and regulations for passenger buses as well as City Streets and geographical locations and layout.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from customers/citizens in a professional, positive, friendly and helpful manner.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of essential duties including operating and maintaining assigned equipment.
- Maintain mental capacity which permits satisfactory performance of essential functions including decision-making, communication, teamwork and positive customer/citizen interactions and experiences.
- Perform preventative maintenance on assigned vehicle
- Operate mechanical equipment used for loading and unloading wheelchairs
- Maintain detailed and accurate records and logs
- Work in all weather conditions (snow, rain, heat, etc.)
