Lincoln City Libraries is a department of the City of Lincoln and provides public library services to residents of the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County. There are approximately 130 staff based at eight library locations and a Bookmobile in neighborhoods across Lincoln. The library team prides itself in being responsive to the library service needs of the community and strives to provide excellent customer service and equitable access to impactful activities and a wide offering of materials and technology—all through the good stewardship of its resources.
This is professional accounting work performing the maintenance, review, analysis, and reporting of fiscal records, and the management of the library system’s business operations. This position is based at Bennett Martin Public Library and reports to the Library Director.
Maintains a complete set of fiscal records; generates and reconciles financial reports, and reviews and reports on internal controls.
Coordinates and develops the budget for the library system.
Prepares and presents budget reports to library staff, library board members, and city staff.
Monitors, analyzes and projects expenditures of all library funds in order to ensure compliance with the budget plan.
Monitors, analyzes and projects the cash flow of library system funds.
Develops, implements and supervises accounting policies and procedures.
Ensures compliance with the reporting requirements of governmental and other authoritative bodies; works with auditors as required.
Manages the business operations of the library system.
Processes accounts payables, reconciles purchase card activities, and handles inter-departmental charges for library system funds.
Provides overview of payroll activities for the department.
Assists with contracts and requisitions.
Supervises other staff as required.
Knowledge of governmental accounting procedures.
Ability to apply accounting principles to the maintenance of fiscal and accounting records.
Ability to maintain a variety of accounting records and reports.
Ability to compile, calculate, and analyze data necessary for the completion of fiscal reports.Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business or public administration, or related field; and six months of experience in accounting procedures; or any equivalent training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities, and skills.
