Job Objective & Safety/Security Sensitive Designation
The Summer Youth Employment Opportunity (SYEO) provides City of Little Rock's youth between the ages of 16-21 (Youth Interns) with paid summer employment, including training, for up to six weeks during the summer months. SYEO also provides training on job readiness, career exploration, financial literacy and opportunities to continue educational and social growth. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and no older than 21 by June 2, 2025.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This year's Summer Youth Employment Opportunity (SYEO) job placements will only be offered to applicants who successfully complete the onboarding process. Placement will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so please make sure to read all instructions and supplemental questions carefully to complete your application correctly.
This position is not designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is not subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
Essential Functions
Successful applicants will be responsible for a variety of general labor related functions (clerical, maintenance, etc.)

Applicants interested in being considered for SYEO Intern positions must meet the following requirements:
- Be a verified resident of the City of Little Rock.
- Be between the ages of 16 and 21 (Youth Interns) — applicants must be at least 16 years old and no older than 21 by June 2, 2025.

Regular part-time employees who work 1,500 hours shall receive six (6) days of Sick Leave upon the completion of the 1,500 hours. If unused, this Sick Leave shall be allowed to accumulate to a maximum of fifteen (15) days (120 hours). Regular, full-time non-probationary employees who transfer to Regular, part-time positions will receive credit for the previous year's service for purposes of Sick Leave accrual and may carry over accrued Sick Leave accrual up to the maximum noted above.
Regular part-time employees who were in pay status (vacation, sick leave, or actual hours worked) for at least 1,500 hours during the year shall receive the following Vacation Leave:
Up to 10 years of service (40 hrs.) = 5 days per year
10 years or more (60 hrs.) = 7-1/2 days per year
