ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
JOB OBJECTIVE : To perform a variety of skilled maintenance and minor repair services on a routine preventive and corrective basis for City vehicles and light equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Provides assistance in the diagnosis and repair of City vehicles and equipment.
- Repairs and provides assistance in repairs of defective vehicle and equipment components, including lighting systems, brake systems, audio equipment and other malfunctioning components.
- Completes work order for each vehicle and unit serviced, listing items replaced and materials used; notifies supervisor of repair and replacement requirements.
- Performs oil changes, lubrications and maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Performs vehicle and parts pickup and delivery functions.
- Operates a City pool automobile in the performance of essential job functions.

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of a high school or vocational-technical school course in automotive mechanics and one (1) year of experience as an automotive mechanic or mechanic assistant. Regular part-time employees who work 1,500 hours shall receive six (6) days of Sick Leave upon the completion of the 1,500 hours. If unused, this Sick Leave shall be allowed to accumulate to a maximum of fifteen (15) days (120 hours). Regular, full-time non-probationary employees who transfer to Regular, part-time positions will receive credit for the previous year's service for purposes of Sick Leave accrual and may carry over accrued Sick Leave accrual up to the maximum noted above.
Regular part-time employees who were in pay status (vacation, sick leave, or actual hours worked) for at least 1,500 hours during the year shall receive the following Vacation Leave :
Up to 10 years of service (40 hrs.) = 5 days per year
10 years or more (60 hrs.) = 7-1 / 2 days per year
