Job Objective & Safety / Security Sensitive Designation
Serves on a candidate rating panel and reviews candidate videos to assign numerical scores to oral responses given during Entry Firefighter Recruit Structured Interviews. Scoring is tentatively scheduled for 2 / 6 / 2025 through 2 / 8 / 2025 8am-5pm.
No experience is required as training is provided.
Essential Functions
- Actively listen to candidates' verbal answers given to question or scenario as presented.
- Accurately assess candidate's answer based on dimension represented by question or scenario.
- Document candidates' oral responses accurately and objectively.
- Use judgment to assign numerical ratings to candidates' responses based on parameters outlined in scoring guide.
- Calculate final scores based on numerical ratings assigned.
- Interact with other members of rating panel to ensure scores are assigned in a fair objective manner unilaterally.
- Run electronic or mechanical equipment, i.e. laptops, timers, cameras and / or audio recorders.

To serve as a rater in the Structured Interview process, you should be available to participate in a rater training session and then be available to serve at least one full day. The rater training session may last up to two hours.
