Essential Functions
OBJECTIVE: To supervise children and volunteers, if applicable, in the City of Little Rock camp programs.
This Job Posting Will Be Utilized To Fill Multiple Current And Future Vacancies In This Division Of The Parks And Recreation Department. The Current Vacancies Are Listed Below
Part-time Therapeutic Camp Counselors: (13.00 per hour) Demonstrates, instructs, and actively supervises participants during all camp activities and events. Responsible for assisting and supporting the Recreation Coordinator in planning, coordinating, and supervising daily camp activities. Maintains a safe and secure environment for all participants. Effectively interacts and communicates with parents, supervisor, co-workers and participants. Accounts for and maintains all supplies and equipment. Must be able to participate in swim related activities, including, but not limited to, suiting up and wading in water up to your waist. Maintains a safe and secure environment for all participants and participates in training on behavior, interventions, and working with each type of disability. Reports directly to
Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
Part-time Therapeutic Recreation Camp Supervisor: (14.00 per hour)
Supervises playground program activities and employees. Monitors athletic and other recreational activities and programs for youth and/or adult participants. Issues equipment and supplies to participants. Transports youth participants to sites away from center. Administers minor discipline, following center policy, to center participants as required. Monitors equipment condition. Monitors behavior of center participants and visitors to ensure that center rules, city ordinances and other policies, procedures, and laws are followed. Teaches or assists in teaching various special interest classes, such as arts and crafts, and athletic and other recreational activities, such as aerobics.
This position requires an employee to remain composed in emergency situations and make sound judgment decisions during emergency and non-emergency situations.

Ability to develop and implement programs and activities. Ability to assign and review the work activities of part time workers. Ability to develop and maintain event schedules. Ability to collect revenue and keep accurate records for the summer program. Ability to conduct interviews with applicants for the summer program.

Additional Requirements
- Must be a college graduate. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a valid Arkansas Driver's License.
- Must have at least one (1) year of paid experience (full-time or part-time) working with children in therapeutic situations.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have at least two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience.
