JOB OBJECTIVE: To review plans for street, drainage system, and private development construction projects and to inspect construction for compliance with approved plans and specifications; performs the administrative duties associated with the City's compliance activities mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).For a complete list of essential job functions, please click here.
These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related area and one (1) year of experience at the level of Civil Engineer Intern, in civil engineering, or a related area. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

- Must possess registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) before employment and maintain registration for the duration of employment in this position.
- Must possess certification as a Flood Plain Manager in the State of Arkansas within one (1) year of employment; must maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position.
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
CAREER LADDER REQUIREMENTS:
- This classification is eligible for career ladder progression from a Civil Engineer - Engineer Intern (EI) to a Civil Engineer I after the completion of one (1) year of experience as a Civil Engineer – Engineer Intern (EI).
