What are the responsibilities and job description for the EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I position at City of Little Rock?
- Operates light and medium duty trucks to transport materials to assigned work sites and dumping areas.
- Checks assigned equipment daily to assure that tire pressure, fuel, oil and other fluid levels are sufficient; adds oil, fuel or other fluids.
- Notifies supervisor of equipment malfunctions and needed maintenance; transports equipment to maintenance shop upon receiving completed work orders.
- Operates hand and tractor mounted mowing equipment to cut grass or brush from ditches.
- Operates hand tools to clean ditches, load materials onto trucks, dig materials from street areas being repaired and to unload and spread repair materials.
- Serves as backup to Leader by transporting crews to work sites, directing crews and completing daily work sheets.
- Performs unskilled laboring tasks.
- Operates equipment requiring a Commercial Driver's License in the performance of the essential job functions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of one year of experience in the operation of light and medium duty trucks and trailers. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Class A or B (Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment; must obtain a valid Arkansas Class A (Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License with N endorsement within one hundred and twenty (120) days of employment and maintain licensure for duration of employment in this position.
