What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Community Engagement Advocate position at City of Little Rock?
This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
JOB OBJECTIVE: Join our dynamic team and make a real impact in the lives of those who need it most! As part of our mission to serve the homeless population in the City of Little Rock, you'll be at the forefront of creating positive change. You'll actively engage with individuals experiencing homelessness, offering vital street outreach and connecting them to essential housing resources, both temporary and permanent. By collaborating with a network of service providers, you'll play a key role in preventing and intervening in homelessness. Plus, you'll provide invaluable support through crisis intervention, case management, and counseling to help individuals get back on their feet. These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services Psychology, or a related area; two (2) years of case management experience OR social work experience preferably working with the homeless population or related area; one (1) year of computer experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
- Must possess Standard First Aid and Community CPR certifications, or other certifications which incorporate Standard First Aid and Infant, Child and Adult CPR, within six (6) months of employment, and maintain certifications for the duration of employment in this position.
- Must be available to work and provide emergency assistance outside of regular business hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays.
