JOB OBJECTIVE: Love being outdoors and working with your hands? As part of our Parks and Recreation team, you’ll operate a variety of grounds maintenance equipment to help keep our parks, trails, and public spaces looking their best. From mowing and trimming to hands-on facility upkeep, you’ll play a key role in creating clean, safe, and beautiful spaces for the entire community to enjoy. - Operates hand and tractor-mounted mowers and hand-held string trimmers to cut grass in areas around Department facilities; performs minor preventive maintenance on tractors and mowers; sharpens and replaces blades on mowers
- Operates chain saw to cut trees and brush &
- Mixes and applies non-restricted use chemical agents, including fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and pesticides.
- Cleans rest rooms and picks up debris
- Repairs and paints park benches and trash barrels; performs minor building and plumbing maintenance
- Operates light earth-moving equipment, including small backhoe, Bobcat, and front-end loader, as required for maintenance and development projects
- Operates light and medium duty trucks with trailers to transport equipment, materials, and supplies to work sites, Department facilities, and dumping areas
- Provides working supervision to Parks Maintenance Workers and part-time employees
- Operates garbage truck to pick up trash and haul to City landfill
- Reports Department facility equipment and buildings needing repair to the supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position and must possess a valid Arkansas Class B (Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License within ninety (90) days of employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
