JOB OBJECTIVE: Are you passionate about creating fun, engaging experiences for both adults and youth? Join our dynamic team at the Department of Parks and Recreation! In this exciting role, you'll have the opportunity to plan, organize, and lead a variety of aquatic, recreational, and leisure activities for community members at our vibrant Community Centers. You'll play a key part in overseeing the daily operations of our outdoor swimming pool, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely. These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through the completion of two (2) years of college coursework in Parks and Recreation Management, Recreation Administration, Parks Administration, Leisure Sciences, Physical Education, or a related area, and two (2) years of experience in assisting with the direction of athletic or recreational programs or a related area. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
Must possess certification as a Lifeguard Training Instructor (LTI) from the American Red Cross before employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment.
Must possess certification as a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) from the National Swimming Pool Foundations, OR Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) from the National Recreation and Park Association before employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position.
Must be available to work outside normal working hours including shift assignments, nights, and weekends.
