Lifeguards - Seasonal
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the safety of pool patrons by preventing accidents and responding quickly to emergency situations;
- Must know and be able to perform all skills required for certifications;
- Must follow and enforce pool policies and rules at all times, perform routine maintenance to pool area, i.e., stack or move chaise lounge chairs, pick up trash, etc.;
- Must be able to verbally communicate with both public and staff effectively;
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Maintains, inventories and cares for City property and equipment;
- Demonstrates cooperative behavior with team, supervisors, and the public;
- Monitors and records compliance with safety and department guidelines and rules;
- Provides information and directions;
- Sets up equipment for scheduled recreational activities/events;
- May involve cash handling, and
- Perform other related duties that may be required.
Qualifications:
Applicants need to be Lifeguard certified or obtain certification by the start date.
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age to be eligible for employment.

Supplemental Information
The City of Live Oak is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Lifeguard. This position is seasonal, with work hours from May through August.
Candidate should also have the ability to work a varied schedule, which includes holidays, weekends, mornings, days and evenings up to 40 hours per week as assigned. Weekly scheduled hours may vary and are not guaranteed.
Salary ranges from $14.00 - $20.00. Incentive Pay up to $400 for the summer, and reimbursement up to $200 for those who obtain lifeguard certification or re-certification within the last 7 months from job posting and dependent upon successful completion of pool season.
