Starting Salary: $48,401.60
- After Six Months of Successful Employment: $49,441.60
- After One Year of Successful Employment: $50,252.80
- Maximum salary is achieved after four successful years of employment.
This employee is responsible for the planning and operation of contracted and in-house programs, Kid Quarters, and assists in managing outdoor pool facilities and staff. Duties include:
- Program classes for youth through adults at the Recreation Center with independent contractors or staff
- Plan and implement recreational programs
- Evaluate and make appropriate recommendations for future programs
- Oversee the operation of Kid Quarters
- Hire, train, and supervise at-will employees
- Assist in marketing and promoting programs by providing information for "Connections" Magazine and the City of Livonia's website
- Prepare budget and cost recovery
- Prepare reports for management
- Prepare purchase requests and bid specifications for improvements
- Other duties as assigned

- Be a citizen of the United States or resident alien with the right to work in the United States; and
- Possess and maintain valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; and
- Have a high school diploma or its equivalent; and
- Have an associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and at least two years of related experience and training; or
- Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with one year of relevant work experience.
NOTE: Lifeguard certification, LGI, WSI, or Instructor Trainer is preferred.

*In the event the number of qualified applicants exceeds eight an evaluation will be made and the eight applicants with the most appropriate and relevant combination of experience and training will be invited to the interview. In the event there are three or fewer qualified candidates, the examination may be waived. Candidates must pass the interview in order to be placed on the eligible list.
Knowledge/Experience with:
- Registration software (preferred)
- Aquatic operations
- Certified in Lifeguarding, LGI, or WSI (preferred)
Ability to:
- Manage/supervise part-time staff
- Plan and oversee multiple programs and events at the same time
- Work a flexible schedule that will include nights and weekends
NOTE: At the time of appointment, applicants are required to pass a pre-employment medical examination conducted by a physician authorized by the City of Livonia.
