The Parks Laborer is a seasonal position and serves under the direction of the Utilities, Streets and Parks Superintendent. The primary responsibility is keeping up the appearance, health, and safety of landscapes and features in public spaces. Maintain jogging and biking paths, hiking trails, athletic fields, playgrounds, picnic tables, benches, lawns, flower beds, plantings, trees, swimming pool, water features and buildingsThe duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Seed, mow, fertilize, aerate, water, weed lawns, and plantings using mowers, weed eaters and other park care equipment.Inspect and repair playground equipment, buildings, picnic tables, benches, and other park amenities.Plant and care for trees, shrubs, and flowers.Pick up litter and remove bagged trash.Keeps mechanical equipment in proper operating order.Maintains athletic fields, as required by the City. Perform physical labor including hazardous chemical applications.Keeps a variety of records and reports.Assists public works crew as needed. Does other related work as required.
