The City of Loganville is seeking a full time Wastewater Operator in the Water Quality Control Department. This is a semi-skilled and skilled technical maintenance job that involves the handling of the City’s wastewater treatment system.
Major Duties:
- Ensures that wastewater is redistributed into the environment properly.
- Monitors the performance of all equipment, gauges and charts in the plant facility.
- Charts lab results for trend analysis and maintains accurate records and test results.
- Maintains grounds of Water Quality Control facility
- Maintaining the NPDES permit requirements for the Water Quality Control Department.
- Operates, maintains, and repairs malfunctions on the wastewater treatment plants equipment.
- Collects samples and identifies concentrations of chemical, physical, or biological characteristics of wastewater required in accordance with Local, State and Federal requirements; gathers and tests wastewater samples for plant efficiency reports as required.
- Calibrates, modifies or repairs instrumentation and control equipment including recorders, flowmeter, and other water quality monitoring equipment.
Knowledge Required by the Position:
- Knowledge of general maintenance repairs.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, work colleagues, and the general public.
- Ability to respond seven days a week, 24 hours a day for system emergencies as needed.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in the English language.
Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent, State of Georgia Wastewater Class II License is desirable; possesses a valid State of Georgia driver's license or (Class A CDL desirable), and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Back Ground Check; and passing a Drug Screen test. Confined Space, First Aid and CPR certification is desirable, and any combination of education or experience is acceptable.
