WORK SCHEDULE: This position follows a Monday through Friday work schedule and is fully on-site at an assigned work location. Remote or hybrid work options are not available. Schedules are dependent upon operational needs and are subject to change.
EXAMINATION PROCESS: Based upon screening of the City application, résumé, and responses to supplemental questions applicants whose qualifications best meet the requirements of the position will be invited to the examination process. This process may include, but is not limited to written examination, performance examination and/or panel interview, which consists of an evaluation of some of the essential knowledge, skills, abilities, and job-related experience listed below. Those candidates who pass the examination process are placed on an eligibility list from which the final selection will be made.
Failure in any one part of the examination or selection processes will disqualify a candidate from further consideration.
- Assists customers in person and on the phone.
- Performs cashiering duties
- Accepts applications for new utility services and disconnections and prepares appropriate work orders.
- Audits meter readings and questions inconsistent readings.
- Inputs data to establish accounts.
- Corrects billing errors and closes accounts on computer.
- Audits bills.
- Stuffs envelopes.
- Arranges payment schedules for customers with past due accounts.
- Runs totals of cash and receipts.
- Posts appropriate accounts.
- Prepares listings of past due accounts.
- Receives customer complaints, referring to supervisor as appropriate.
- Prepares hand-written warrants, journal vouchers, and bank deposits.
- Operates switchboard.
- Performs other related work as required.
- Office equipment, procedures and practices.
- Business mathematics.
- Basic cashiering.
- Make mathematical computations quickly and accurately.
- Make change and operate cash register.
- Operate a computer terminal.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Type accurately from clear copy.
