Description
Coordinates and performs a variety of professional accounting duties for area of assignment. Manages Fire Department support staff; prepares and manages fire payroll; assists in planning, developing and administering departmental budget. Generates and prepares various types of financial records, statements and reports; coordinates with financial services providers; assists with audit processes; and supervises assigned personnel.
Examples of Duties
- Prepares and manages fire payroll; manages personnel records and other records management information; reconciles monthly expenditure reports; compiles, analyzes, and/or computes numerical data; prepares/maintains spreadsheets.
- Prepare all deployment and other grant reimbursements which require monitoring and/or special reporting requirements.
- Oversees administrative support activities for area of assignment; coordinates with departmental staff and other City departments regarding various administrative and/or operational matters.
- Posts daily revenues/cash receipts received; reconciles related monthly reports; reconciles revenues to general ledger.
- Generates and provides various types of financial reports as required.
- Supervises, trains, coaches and evaluates the performance of assigned staff; supervises, leads, and delegates tasks to assigned staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field, and three years accounting experience, including one year supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Subject to sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 10 pounds. Exposure to potentially irate members of the public is involved.
