Performs duties of a professional SCADA Specialist, including constructing, deploying, operating, monitoring and troubleshooting process control systems (PCS), communication networks, maintaining hardware and software which comprises the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA System.  Installs, maintains tests and repairs Water/Wastewater (W/WW) treatment plant process control systems, equipment and electronic components for the Information Services Department on behalf of the Public Works Department (PWD)) as well as the Traffic Control Information system.

Maintains SCADA and Traffic Control System electronic equipment and process control systems, including monitoring systems, telemetry and components; installs, tests, maintains and repairs electronic components and devices; reads and interprets diagrams, schematics and blueprints. Locates and repairs problems within the Industrial Control System (ICS); works independently, and makes appropriate decisions based on work experience; recommends changes to maximize the effectiveness of ICS systems. Performs maintenance activities within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; notifies supervisors of repair problems beyond the scope of authority. Examines equipment malfunctions and troubleshoots actual and potential problems; examines components to be repaired and determines the proper repair techniques; studies schematics to determine needed repairs or replacement of components; replaces faulty components, and tests finished job to determine system durability. Implements the preventive maintenance program for PWD electronic equipment and systems; cleans and inspects a variety of electronic equipment; assures equipment functions meet job specifications and technical codes. Documents repair and maintenance work performed; maintains and updates daily log of activities; keeps current on issues and trends in electronic equipment. Installs, repairs and updates control equipment and software related to the SCADA and Traffic Control Systems; inspects electronic systems and components and makes repairs, replacements or corrections as needed. Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations; responds to emergencies as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned or required. 

Associate’s degree from an accredited Institution of higher learner with a major in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Industrial Control Systems related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in Ignition HMI, Modbus Communication Protocol, Ladder Logic, Function Block. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License. FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS). Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System Access Certification (TLETS). Applicable ICS or SCADA certifications. Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background check. 

Work is performed within water and wastewater plants, wastewater collections systems, water distribution systems, traffic control systems and public roadways; i.e. traffic intersections, and in a standard office environment. Potential exposure to bright/dim light, dust and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, fumes and/or noxious odors, traffic, moving machinery, electrical shock, Arc/Flash, heights, confined spaces and hazardous chemicals.

  

Salary : $47,050
