This position is only open to current, regular employees of the Louisville Metro Police Department.
The purpose of this position is to supervise the day-to-day operations of the hardware / software portion of the
Technical Services Unit.
This role operates independently under limited supervision, with major activities reported through periodic
meetings. The position will emphasize the deployment and maintenance of technology that supports law
enforcement operations, ensuring that all systems are configured to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in
police work.
Examples of Duties
- Supervises subordinate technical staff responsible for the delivery of technology services to law enforcement users.
- Performs technical work configuring and troubleshooting agency managed devices, including but not limited to in-vehicle routers, body worn, interview room, and dash mounted camera systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, cellular phones and tablets, and other technologies used by law enforcement.
- Manages projects, programs, and initiatives where technical staff are responsible for service delivery, including development of project plans and monitoring of program and project budgets.
- Coordinates with Metro Technology Services for the delivery of technology services and ensures Service Level Agreements are met and that change management and security processes are followed by subordinate personnel.
- Assists with the development of budget, technology roadmaps, and ongoing programs.
- Identifies opportunities for operational efficiencies through analysis and consolidation of platforms.
- Evaluates technologies proposed for use within law enforcement and determines their cost benefit and effectiveness.
- Develops training plans for technical staff to ensure continuous professional development of the team.
- Performs technical work configuring and troubleshooting agency managed devices, including but not limited to in-vehicle routers, body worn, interview room, and dash mounted camera systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, and other technologies used by law enforcement.
- Performs related work as assigned.
