The City of Louisville seeks a full time -year round, First Assistant Golf Professional who is responsible for supporting the daily Golf Course operations under the direct supervision of the General Manager. The First Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for training and supervising 50 plus part time employees during the busy season. The selected candidate will assist the General Manager with maintaining efficient, professional, and safe golf operations. This role will have the opportunity for teaching private lesson instruction, junior and group lessons, clinics, and schools.
Additional compensation opportunities:
Golf Lessons: Assistant Golf Professionals may teach Golf lessons and receive 80% commission from their lesson revenue and 20% goes to the City. More details will be given if you are chosen to interview.
The role may be required to work early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as required.

- Responsible for following the professional example of the General Manager and maintaining that example for all employees.
- Act as lead for team operations including cart/ range attendants, starters, and player assistants
- Assist in the administration and scheduling of daily play, leagues, tournaments, high school teams, and club events
- Create a comprehensive staff schedule under the management and lead of the General Manager
- Assists with organizational activities for the men's and women’s clubs along with the junior golf programs
- Assist with the creation of training programs and training materials for seasonal staff
- Work closely with the General Manager to implement any and all operational improvements and ideas
- Assist with and manage a range of outings and tournaments as needed
- Assume Head Golf Professional duties in General Manager’s absence
- Serve as staff manager, Pro Shop assistant, or operations specialist as required, including but not limited to:
- Daily Pro Shop opening and closing, green fees collection, cart and club rentals, range balls sales, and manage Pro Shop merchandise
- Responsible for maintaining the Golf Shop in a clean, orderly, and fully-stocked condition
- Prepare written reports and memos in a clear and concise manner
- Maintain files and follows-up on delegated tasks
- Assist in the merchandising and display of Golf Shop merchandise as needed
- Assist with Pro Shop inventory control and front desk management
- Prepare purchase orders in accordance with City policies and procedures
- Responsible for daily cash reports and bank deposits at the end of each shift; perform daily collection, deposit, and accounting procedures for Golf Course fees and charges in accordance with City policies and procedures
- Oversee the daily and monthly maintenance of electric golf car fleet
- Serve as representative of the City of Louisville while on duty or as a visiting golf professional at other facilities
- Oversee the programming and maintenance of the electronic tee sheet
- Participate in ordering, receiving, inventorying, and displaying merchandise as needed
- Perform collection and analyzation of performance data of our key profit centers: green fees, golf cart fees, annual season pass sales, golf instruction, golf shop sales, and range sales
- Maintain and continue to expand work on own golfing skill and knowledge
- Provide private, junior, and group golf lesson instruction to clients
- Oversee PGA Jr. League and PGA Camps
- Provide input regarding number and type of instructional classes to be offered; assist with class schedules, descriptions, and publication coordination of classes/ events
- Collaboratively work with fellow Pro Shop employees in daily operations
- Create and foster a high degree of customer service and professionalism in the workplace
- Provide excellent customer service and hospitality to Golf Course guests
- Run errands as required
- Regular and predictable attendance required
- Other duties as required
- Minimum age eighteen (18) years by first day of employment
- High school diploma or equivalent educational credential
- Two (2) years of experience working at a golf course in a customer service capacity
- Class A Professional OR graduate from a professional golf school OR enrolled in PGA Level 3 program preferred
LICENSE, CERTIFICATE, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- Current driver’s license in good standing with no major violations in the past three (3) years and must maintain good standing through employment
- Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred
- Prefer PGA certified
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret City of Louisville policies and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, citizens, and others verbally and in writing
- Ability to respond to customer concerns promptly and effectively
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, the public, and other agencies
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10 and 100 using United States currency
- Ability to apply and calculate fractions and percentages

Salary : $58,760 - $79,331
