- Develop and teach class content appropriate to the course description and level.
- Develop appropriate tools necessary to offer quality swim lessons.
- Provide feedback to class participants and proper instruction in the use of support materials.
- Monitors participants and their ability to participate.
- Provides a safe environment for all participants.
- Enforces all pool rules and regulations
- Completes any necessary reports and forms, i.e., accident reports, report cards at the end of each session.
- Attends scheduled meetings as required.
- Responsible for preparation for program activities; prepares lesson plans, organizes relative equipment; may be required to set-up and break-down materials used for instruction.
- Responsible for finding a dependable, appropriate substitute upon their absence.
- Must possess a WSI (Water Safety Instructor) certification.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain.
- Must be minimum 16 years of age.
- Good leadership and teamwork skills.
- Excellent communication skills in dealing with youth as well as the parents of participants and co-workers.
- Patience and a positive attitude.
- Ability to provide leadership to participants with a self-confident attitude.
- Ability to respond well to emergency situations.
- Ability to deal tactfully with the public in resolving conflicts and the ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees.
- Candidates will be required to complete and pass any or all of the following: a pre-placement physical, substance screen, and/or a background investigation prior to employment.
