Part-Time Police Chief

Job Summary
The Chief of Police serves as the highest-ranking officer in the police department, responsible for overseeing all law enforcement activities within the jurisdiction. This role requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to community safety, and the ability to manage complex law enforcement operations effectively. The Chief of Police will work closely with community leaders, government officials, and other stakeholders to ensure public safety and uphold the law.

Duties

• Direct and manage all operations of the police department, including criminal investigations, patrol operations, and community policing initiatives.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance law enforcement effectiveness and community relations.
• Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development of police personnel to ensure a highly skilled workforce.
• Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies on crime prevention strategies and investigations.
• Address community concerns regarding public safety through effective communication and conflict management.
• Ensure compliance with immigration laws and regulations as they pertain to law enforcement activities.
• Manage departmental budgets and resources efficiently while maintaining accountability for expenditures.
• Respond to critical incidents, providing leadership during emergencies or high-pressure situations.
• Foster a culture of integrity, professionalism, and respect within the department.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid certificate in law enforcement from an accredited institution.
• Extensive experience in criminal investigation techniques and practices is required.
• Knowledge of immigration law is preferred to navigate related legal matters effectively.
• Experience in animal handling and care may be beneficial for departments that engage in animal control responsibilities.
• Proven conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations effectively.
• Strong leadership capabilities with a demonstrated drive for excellence in policing practices.
• Experience in militarized policing or military service may be advantageous but is not mandatory.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for engaging with diverse communities.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
