Position Title: Board of Parks Member (3939) (1 vacancy)
Duration of Term: Five Years
Meetings: The Board of Parks meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 6:00pm in the Mayor’s Reception Room at Lowell City Hall. Additional special meetings are scheduled on an as needed basis.
SUMMARY
The Board of Parks is a five (5) member volunteer board that meets the last Wednesday of each month. The Board has jurisdiction and authority to act in all instances for the promotion and conduct of recreation, play, sport or other similar acts with regard to the use of playgrounds, parks, stadiums, etc. The Board of Parks meets monthly to set and amend policy, approve/deny permit requests that are either in special areas of the city parks that require Board permission, or is usage that is “unintended field usage” of a certain park or area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend monthly meetings of the Board of Parks
- Attend Special meetings as needed
- Become familiar with Park policies and procedures to be able to vote accordingly
- Vote to assign/waive fees to permits as required
- Work with the Board Secretary and Superintendent of Parks and Open Spaces to amend policies procedures and fees as necessary
