Salary: $28.3712 (min) to $34.7360 (max) per hour plus Incentives w/ applicable licenses
SUMMARY
Performs equipment maintenance, installation, and repair work on collection system (drain, sewer, and combined systems) and outlying structures both in existence and to be added in the future.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for routine maintenance tasks in repair and installation of piping and equipment systems.
- Typical duties may include but are not limited to assisting in removal or breakdown of equipment.

including greasing and oil requirements of various equipment items.
- Inspection and maintenance of buildings, pipes, tanks and wet well structures in site and outlying structures.
- Repair and maintenance of plant vehicles.
- Inspect and maintain pipes, manholes, pump stations, and other components of the system. They look for signs of wear, damage, blockages, and potential overflows.
- Repair of collection and stormwater system assets including but not limited to, pipes, catch basins, manholes, treatment structures, gates, and valves.
- Perform cleaning tasks to prevent blockages in pipes or structures. This may involve using water jetting equipment, mechanical cleaning tools, vacuum trucks, or even manual cleaning.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to keep the system running smoothly. This includes lubricating equipment, replacing worn parts, and ensuring proper operation of pumps and other machinery.
- Collect data on system performance and assets, such as flow rates, condition, location, and other parameters.
- Address emergency repairs to damaged pipes, manholes, or pump stations to get the system back online as quickly as possible.
- Drive various vehicles including dump truck, vacuum truck, pick-up truck, van, mac, or sludge vehicles.
- Controls downtime and provides maintenance by performing preventative maintenance and making repairs, adjustments, or new installations as expediently as possible.
- Maintains a clean working environment by performing housekeeping, custodial and landscaping duties.
- Performs required treatment plant maintenance by operating/performing repairs to vertical asset equipment and assists the maintenance manager on an as needed basis.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by: Answering questions and requests, completing work orders both written and digital, using technology tools to record and communicate.
- Helps the public by being courteous, investigating complaints promptly, and assuring prompt action.
- Maintains licenses and professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, seminars, and courses, reviewing professional publications, and maintains required licenses.
- Works safely by knowing facility safety rules and regulations, attending in-plant and outside safety seminars and courses and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Works with other divisions at the Wastewater Utility to accomplish Utility goals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise and/or work with other Collection System Operators. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, planning and appraising job results.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required to have a high school education or GED due to the nature of the equipment and system mechanics working with and within.
The variety of duties will require experience in at least one of several fields involved in wastewater system maintenance.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS
Commercial Driver’s License, Hoisting licenses, and all other essential licenses commensurate with the job duties, must be obtained within 1 year of appointment.
Wastewater Operator License, Collection System License preferred.
