Summary
Assigns and supervises the activities of employees engaged in the construction, maintenance, and repair of power lines.
Essential Functions
- Supervise a crew in the construction of extensions and additions to electrical lines and performs maintenane on high voltage lines;
- Direct the installation of transmission and distribution line system for new tracts and subdivisions extending primary and secondary lines for long distance;
- Maintain proper safety standards;
- Instruct and train line crew personnel;
- Be required to be on-call and stand-by as needed to include weekends and holidays;
- Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent with an additional three years experience as a journey lineman, including one year of supervisory experience in a related field or any combination of relevant education and experience that provides the following;

Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- The process of installation and termination of cables;
- Installation equipment and methods of electrical repair.
- Communicate effectively with others;
- Operate the following machines and equipment: Heavy motorized machinery (bucket trucks, hole digger, line trucks and wire-pulling rig), electric generators, hydraulic and electric drills, bolt cutters, wrenches, hammers and saws
- Continuously lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Frequently lift and carry up to 100 pounds in order to load and transport materials and equipment
- Frequently stand, walk and bend during a shift
- Occasionally climb ladders and poles during shift in order to install transformers
- Occasionally kneel during the shift
- Push and pull objects when hoisting equipment hand hanging wires
- Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees in order to perform inspections
- Rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing in order to perform inspections
- Place arms above, at or below shoulder height
