**Starting Salary: $32.004 hourly || $2.560.32 biweekly || $66.568.32 annually**
The City of Lubbock will accept applications for the Probationary Firefighter positions between Friday, March 7, 2025 through Friday June 6, 2025.
All applications for this exam are completed online and must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025.
The Probationary Firefighter Entrance Exam will be given on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center located at 1501 Mac Davis Lane, Lubbock, TX at 8:30 a.m. All applicants should plan to arrive at 7:30 a.m.; doors will close at 8:30 a.m. (no exceptions). A valid, government-issued photo identification is required for admittance to the exam.
Job Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18* years old at the time of the written exam; and not have reached your 36th birthday at the time of hire.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a citizen of the United States or a veteran with permanent legal resident status, honorably discharged with two years of service.
All applicants who wish to receive Honorable Discharge Credit for service in the armed forces of the Unites States shall provide proof of an "Honorable Discharge" (i.e., DD Form 214 Service 2, DD Form 214 Member 4, or DD Form 214 Service 7). Any discharge, by whatever name known, that includes any language other than "Honorable Discharge" is not acceptable for Honorable Discharge Credit. This proof must be provided by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025. You may either attach proof to your application online or e-mail it to promofire@mylubbock.us.Failure to provide proof by the deadline or in any other format will not qualify for credit.
Do not attach any other forms or documentation to the application except the DD-214 form (if applicable).
The Entry Level Firefighter Exam is a general knowledge, multiple-choice exam. Candidates are allowed three (3) hours to complete the exam but may finish earlier. The test will identify those candidates who have the essential basic skills necessary to perform successfully as a Probationary Firefighter. YOU DO NOT NEED TO MEMORIZE ANY MATERIAL FOR THIS EXAM. The test consists of mathematics, reading comprehension, writing, reasoning, and map reading. Applicants must pass the Entry Level Firefighter Exam before taking the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). The CPAT will be held at a later date.
The eligibility list created as a result of this examination will be effective from June 18, 2025 through June 18, 2026, unless exhausted before that date.
