The City of Lynden is currently accepting applications for the position of Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker (April Through September)
Type of Position: Full-Time, Temporary (April through September), Non-Exempt, Non-Represented.
Must be able to work a non-standard work schedule as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
JOB SUMMARY
This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of municipal building grounds, parks, and recreational facilities. Works in coordination with other Parks Maintenance staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of hire; AND
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the incumbent with the necessary qualifications may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance.
- Equipment and supplies used to do minor repairs.
- First aid and applicable safety precautions.
- Ability to work independently under general direction and to complete daily activities according to established procedures and assigned work schedule.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions and to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
- Represent the City in a positive and professional manner.
- Support and promote the City's mission, vision, and core values in all aspects of job performance.
Special Requirements
- Must have a valid driver's license and appropriate insurance at the time of hire for work-related travel.
- Must pass appropriate background checks.
- Possess (or obtain within six months of hire date) CPR and First Aid certifications and maintain them throughout tenure.
- Must be able to work a non-standard work schedule as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
