PARK EVENT SPECIALIST (Landscaping/Irrigation)
Community Services Parks & Grounds
This is light to medium manual labor involving semi-skilled work in various park landscape maintenance tasks and providing support for city community events. This position requires the use of zero turn lawn mowers, various handheld power equipment such as weed eaters, edgers, blowers, and other light to medium equipment. The work is performed under the supervision of the Parks & Grounds Superintendent. This position routinely provides support for city related events and may occasionally be required to work after normal business hours, weekends, or holidays during special events.

- Performing general landscape maintenance of parks and facilities.
- Weed removal from landscaped beds.
- Pruning of hedges and trees.
- Install new plants and/or mulch as required.
- Mowing grass.
- Operates power mowers, edgers, weed eaters, backpack blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
- Removal of various trash/debris from parks and facilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems.
- Provide event support for various city related events.
- May operate other equipment on occasion.
- Provides support for a variety of community special events, assisting the event management team with traffic control, set up, and clean up, etc. as required.
- Performs other related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of the tools and equipment used in general landscape maintenance work.
- Working knowledge of irrigation systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to landscape maintenance work.
- Ability to learn to operate equipment associated with maintaining parks and facilities.
- Ability to understand and follow simple instructions; physical strength and ability to perform manual labor associated with landscape maintenance related work.
- Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently when required.
Training and Experience
- Graduation from a standard high school or GED.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in grounds and landscape maintenance work.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in irrigation system installation/repair.
