The Senior Finance Specialist - Public Works is responsible for budget analysis in the Public Works Department. This position is expected to support the financial activities of the department, which will include analyzing, monitoring, and maintaining financial data and communicating this information with department leadership.The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional position specific duties.- Coordinate with Finance, Utility Billing, and other departments to ensure proper payments and distribution of funds within city accounts.
- Coordinate and perform work relating to the budget and finances of the Lynnwood Public Works Department.
- Utilize advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database modeling functions. Collect, compile and analyze information from various sources relating to the programs administered by the position or within the department; write reports which present and interpret data.
- Responsible for grant research, application assistance and ongoing assistance as needed.
- May obtain quotes from vendors for goods and services and administer procurement functions for assigned area.
- Perform related work and special projects as assigned.
- Knowledge of purchasing, accounts payable and accounting principles and practices and the basic principles of municipal finance.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to operate personal computer with associated software and peripherals, copy machine, calculator, fax machine, and other office machines.
- Ability to accurately perform complex and detailed technical work with considerable independence.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workflow, work on multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to organize large amounts of information and make that information understandable to others.
