Position Summary:
Under the direction of the City Manager, the IT Director will oversee all information technology staff, projects, infrastructure, and resources for the City of Mableton. The IT Director is responsible for managing the City’s hardware, operating systems, software applications, and personal computer networks. This role also involves strategic planning and maintaining IT systems across all City departments, ensuring effective cyber security management, and providing technical guidance for applications software analysis, design, and development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, evaluate, and recommend IT strategies, plans, and priorities.
- Establish standards and procedures for automation systems.
- Define system and user application requirements and assist in system design.
- Implement and monitor the City’s IT programs, ensuring alignment with goals, schedules, and budgets.
- Assess the City’s current and future IT needs and develop budget proposals.
- Review and advise on the purchase of hardware, software, and related automation services.
- Administer and monitor vendor contracts, ensuring compliance with performance metrics.
- Oversee City-wide end-user training needs for applications and personal computer tools.
- Provide regular progress reports on automation projects and operations and recommend system modifications as needed.
- Coordinate with advisory or steering committees to develop strategies, goals, and programs related to automation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in SQL Server operation and administration, or related experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and other relevant software.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience with CAD, Studio Design, Adobe, and GIS applications.
- Valid Georgia Class C driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of current IT developments, equipment, and methods.
- Advanced knowledge of administrative principles, including goal setting, program planning, and personnel management.
- Advanced knowledge of budget development and administration in a public agency.
- In-depth understanding of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
