Open Period for Accepting Applications :
Completed applications accepted via e-mail, mail, or hand-delivery no sooner than Thursday, January 23 through Friday, February 28, 2025. No application will be accepted after 3 : 00 p.m., February 28, 2025. Falsification of any part of an application will result in immediate disqualification. Completed applications, whether emailed, mailed, or hand-delivered by applicant or applicant's representative must be received no later than 3 : 00 p.m., on Friday, February 28, 2025. Wages & Benefits :
- Wage (2025) range : $33.37 - $40.07 / hour, depending on prior comparable law enforcement experience
- Experience preferred but not necessary
- Paid peace officer academy training available, conditioned upon signing two-year agreement which includes reimbursement to City if separation of employment occurs within two years of completion of FTO training
- Accrued time may be transferred for candidates with police experience.
- Contract includes $1.50 per hour night shift differential.
- Other benefits : medical, dental, vision and life coverage. [Prior service : Any appointment transferring from another public agency to Macedonia as a full-time police officer shall be credited with unused balance of their accumulated sick leave up to a maximum of 960 sick hours]
Qualifications :
Must be a U.S citizen, must have high school diploma or GED equivalent and be 21 years of age at time of application. Must possess a current and valid Ohio drivers' license. Documentation must accompany application. Candidates are not required to have completed peace office training academy prior to appointment.
Written Exam :
Candidates must take the Frontline National examination through National Testing Network and submit their score by February 28, 2025 at 3pm . Candidates must score a passing grade of at least 70% on the Frontline National video score to be ranked on the Macedonia Patrol Officer Eligibility List.
Additional credit with passing grade of 70% (for a maximum of 20 points) :
Ten (10) points for minimum 2-years prior and continuous full-time police officer experience. Separation from previous department must have occurred within the last 1 year of this notice OR five (5) points for current peace officer certification or academy enrollment; five (5) points for Associate's degree in Criminal Justice; five (5) points for prior military service. (DD 214 stating honorable discharge must be provided). Documentation must be on file with the Macedonia Civil Service Commission no later than February 28, 2025 at 3 : 00 p.m.
Physical Agility Test Certificates Accepted :
OPOTC Academy Physical Agility Certificates completed within the last 12 months OR Certificate of Completion of Physical Agility Test (PAT) from the Tri- C Police Training Academy, Western Campus; Parma, Ohio. PAT certificate from Tri- C is valid for one-year from date of issuance. Candidate is solely responsible for contacting Tri- C at 216.785.2189 to schedule PAT. Registration required. PAT offered February 16 and March 16, 2025. PAT Certificate from an OPOTC Academy OR Tri- C preferably submitted with application but in any event no later than time of appointment.
Final review and certification of the eligibility list is at the sole discretion of the Macedonia Civil Service Commission.
Eligible candidate(s) are required to take and pass psychological, physical and polygraph tests. Other testing includes EKG, drug screening (periodic drug screening during employment required) background check, and personal interview with the appointing authority. Eligible candidate(s) required to be a non-smoker and remain a non-smoker for duration of employment.
