General Description
The City of Madison Human Resources Department is looking for an engaged, creative professional who is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace. Through this role, you will be responsible for coordinating disability and religious accommodations to ensure equal access and opportunities for all employees. You will act as a key collaborator with employees and managers on accommodation options, assist employees who are returning from leave, and help the City to continue to develop a culture of accessibility. This position is under the general supervision of the Employee & Labor Relations Manager and frequently partners with other Human Resources staff members to meet the goals and objectives of the position.

Occupational Accommodation Specialist Trainee (18/04)
Salary Range: $64,745.98 - $74,663.42
If you are hired at the Trainee Level, you will have the opportunity to participate in a trainee program that advances to the Occupational Accommodations Specialist 1 within two (2) years. There is also additional opportunities to advance as there are 3 levels in the Occupational Accommodation Specialist series. Classification level will be determined at the time of hire and will be based on the candidate's relevant work experience and overall qualifications.
Occupational Accommodation Specialist 1 (18/06)
Salary Range: $68,834.48 - $81,047.46
This is the entry level of the Occupational Accommodation Specialist career progression series. This work is characterized by more support, structure, supervision, and mentoring. Under close supervision, employees are expected to exercise professional judgment, uphold confidentiality, as well as establish and maintain positive working relationships throughout the City and use discretion within established parameters.
Occupational Accommodation Specialist 2 (18/08)
Salary Range: $74,663.42 - $88,600.72
This is the objective level of the Occupational Accommodation Specialist career progression series. Employees complete the analysis and resolution of a wide variety of occupational accommodation issues, prepare comprehensive reports and recommendations, and present and defend findings. Under general supervision, employees are expected to exercise professional judgement and discretion while working through complex employee issues.

Minimum Qualifications
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in performing activities related to: hiring/recruitments, benefits, leave management; non-profit advocacy, legal support, or communication.
In order to qualify for the Occupational Accommodations Specialist 1:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in human resources, business administration, sociology, political science, disability studies, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology or a closely related field.

- Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in performing activities related to human resources, vocational rehabilitation, disability advocacy, social work, psychology, or a closely related field.
In order to qualify for the Occupations Accommodations Specialist 2:
- Four (4) years of related specialized experience performing analytic and/or programmatic work in vocational rehabilitation, occupational health, or human resources.

- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, sociology, political science, disability studies, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology or a closely related field, AND
- Two (2) years of related specialized experience performing analytic and/or programmatic work in vocational rehabilitation, occupational health, or human resources.
