What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mahr Park - Park Attendant position at City of Madisonville?
TITLE: PARK ATTENDANT
Under general supervision of Park Director, Park Attendant staff will welcome guests at Mahr Park Arboretum and play a critical role in ensuring that patrons enjoy their time in the park during park programming and events, as well as other times. Park Attendants are the friendly and forward-facing team members who interact with guests and provide superior customer service and assistance with guest needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greeting and interacting with park visitors in a positive and customer-based focus, answer questions clearly, be open to feedback from visitors, and approach and speak to guests as appropriate.
- Open and close facilities.
- Make transactions by accepting payments via cash, credit card and checks for all rentals and giftshop/pro-shop items and make record of all transactions as needed.
- Must be knowledgeable with Laptop, iPad, printer, copier, email, proper phone communications.
- Assist with Events, programs, special activities set-up, take-down, event duration monitoring.
- Monitor and remain in assigned areas; report any issues or repair needs and notify Park Director of all necessary updates or conditions.
- Collaborate with all Park staff as needed.
- Have knowledge of all park rules and regulations and Mahr history.
- Have knowledge of Park layout and directional maps, including facility’s, trails, waterways restrooms and exits.
- Assist Park Director with a variety of office assistant tasks (paperwork, errands, filing, etc.)
- Watering plants and minor trash, limb collection around facilities.
- Inform Park Director of developing problems.
- Respond in a quick and professional manner to incidents.
- Be aware of all special functions or activities that occur during the event.
- Keeping track of number of visitors and other Welcome Center/Park specifics.
- Cleaning will be performed daily- will include any park facility, restroom, outdoor space as needed and assigned by Park Director.
- Stocking and maintaining inventory list of what is needed.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

Requirements:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Effective oral communication and writing skills
- Ability to interact with guests and staff on a professional basis
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including but not limited to late nights, weekends and select holidays
- Dependable, punctual, reliable, professional and neat in appearance
- While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time which may include stairs.
- Employee must be able to use hands and arms to reach and/or handle, and occasionally lift or more
- objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Employee must be able to communicate with and understand guests, clients and employees
