Performs a variety of recreation related services concerning operation of the City’s park system to include routine cleaning and maintenance, interacting with patrons utilizing or reserving park facilities, collecting appropriate fees, and enforcing park rules and city ordinances in support of the City’s Parks & Recreation Programs. Works under the general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director, or assigned designee.
This position is considered an emergency/disaster position. During emergency conditions, all City employees are automatically considered emergency service workers. City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation, which requires that the employee be ready, willing, and able to report to work during emergencies and/or disasters of any kind, notwithstanding any other commitments the employee may have and be able perform emergency services duties, as assigned.
Maintains routine cleanliness of parks and recreation facilities to include emptying trashcans, sweeping sidewalks, and other light maintenance duties as required.
Provides assistance with the Farmers Market and/or special event operations including, but not limited to, set-up, breakdown/lock-up, enforcement of park rules, general cleaning duties, and assisting with other event operational duties as required.
Assists the Athletic Programming Coordinator with athletics operational duties including, but not limited to, gym supervision, scorekeeping, camps, set-up, and breakdown of program activities.
Collects user fees, prepares receipts, monitors tennis ID’s and records information necessary for preparation of daily, monthly, and yearly reports.
Locks and unlocks park facilities as required during opening and closing periods.
Reports all incidents (including injuries) occurring within the course of your employment, to include all property/equipment whether there is damage or no damage to the item to the employees assigned supervisor immediately.
Reports all unsafe practices or conditions observed verbally or in writing to the employees assigned supervisor immediately.
Monitors City tennis courts to ensure all participants are approved users. Assists the Senior Center Specialist with daily duties including, but not limited to, opening, monitoring classes, clean-up, record keeping, and closing.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Completes forms, writes reports, answers phones, utilizes city email systems, and delivers messages.
Assists in special events programming or special projects as required.
Performs a variety of other duties as assigned in order to assist with the delivery of parks and recreation programs for the residents of and visitors to Maitland.
Must be 18 years of age.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Must be able to work evenings, early mornings, weekends, and “split” shifts.
Must be comfortable communicating with the public regarding program or event information, promotions, or regulations.
Pass City of Maitland screening requirements.
Must possess strong customer services skills and the ability to communicate effectively to clientele.
Ability to read, write, and complete necessary reporting regarding departmental activities.
Ability to handle cash transactions effectively and complete data entry regarding such transactions.
