What are the responsibilities and job description for the NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR position at City of Maitland?

Responsible for professional, technical, and analytical work involving the installation, administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of personal computers, network servers, switches, wireless controllers, and peripheral equipment such as, but not limited to printers, hubs, switches, routers, bridges, other connectivity devices. Responsibilities include but are not limited to technical work involving overall network design, evaluation, installation, testing, upgrading, and maintaining the City’s network and network operating systems, file systems and databases, also responsible for component technology strategy. This includes Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Intranet, Internet, wireless and other data communications systems. Investigates failures and coordinate failure analysis, determine root causes; categorize failure as related to components, process and design. Implements and monitors daily backup and restoration functions, free disk space, virus and spam protection, network security, and general user maintenance procedures, network printing, and software licensing. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Information Technology Manager. May provide direction to the Information Technology Specialist I and II on routine tasks.
This position is considered an emergency/disaster position. During emergency conditions, all City employees are automatically considered emergency service workers. City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation, which requires that the employee be ready, willing, and able to report to work during emergencies and/or disasters of any kind, notwithstanding any other commitments the employee may have and be able perform emergency services duties, as assigned.Responsible for the design, installation/migration, testing, evaluation, maintenance and overall performance of the LAN/WAN and servers. Analyzes, designs, implements, and upgrades the City’s information systems network to include communications, organizational change, information flow, inventory control, and cost analysis for both desktop and network equipment and software. Responsible for configuring, updating, and maintaining Internet Protocol (IP) Phone system, including Unity servers, Cisco call manager, and Cisco IP phones.
Develops and maintains network security procedures. Adds, removes, and changes authorities for network users.
Assist in the Supervision, training and evaluation of the IT Specialist I and IT Specialist II.
Monitors network to ensure proper operation and high service levels. This includes reviewing, prioritizing, and scheduling installation and maintenance of network and PC based operating systems and software utilizing the Track-It system. Analyzes the cause of reported problems, takes appropriate action to make corrections, and documents utilizing the Track-It system.
Reviews, selects, implements and documents backup and recovery procedures for all systems.
Documents and maintains systems standards to include system login scripts, network resource mappings, user groups, group policies, network users, user environments, directories, e-mail accounts, licenses, virus and spam protection, and security for the LAN/WAN.
Provides technical support and training of users for various computer hardware, including peripherals, and software as required.
Performs clerical routines such as obtaining quotes/bids and creating requisitions to generate purchase orders using the City’s documented purchasing guidelines and the City’s financial system. Completes other purchasing related paperwork, as required. Generates analysis and reporting for performance measures, budgeting, and other managerial requests, as required.
Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of computer equipment, server rooms, and other and Information Technology work and storage areas, with an eye to cleanliness, order, and safety.

Must pass an annual criminal background check, to include but not limited to fingerprinting.
Must also possess the National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS-700 within 30 days of employment and the ICS-100 within 90 days of employment. There may be additional NIMS required, which will be scheduled by your supervisor.
