Recreation Leader - Summer Camp

We are seeking dynamic, responsible, and enthusiastic Recreation Leaders to join our Summer Camp team! As a Recreation Leader, you will play a key role in providing a fun, safe, and engaging environment for campers (ages 5-12). You will lead and facilitate recreational activities, ensuring that campers have a positive experience while developing new skills, making friendships, and staying active.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise a variety of camp activities such as sports, games, arts & crafts, swimming, team-building exercises, and special events.
• Foster an inclusive, fun, and supportive environment, promoting positive behavior, teamwork, and good sportsmanship among campers.
• Plan, organize, and execute daily camp schedules, ensuring smooth transitions between activities and camper engagement.
• Provide clear instructions and guidance for campers in activities, while encouraging creativity, participation, and personal growth.
• Supervise campers during all activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
• Handle camper behavior in a positive and constructive manner, utilizing appropriate techniques for conflict resolution and problem-solving.
• Work as part of a team with other staff members to ensure camp operations run smoothly.
• Assist with the preparation and clean-up of activities and camp spaces.
• Act as a role model, demonstrating leadership, responsibility, and a positive attitude.
• Maintain open communication with camp leadership, reporting any camper concerns or incidents in a timely manner.
• Support special camp events and field trips as needed.
• Assist with camper check-in/check-out procedures.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with children in a recreational, educational, or camp setting is preferred.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a group of children.
• Knowledge of recreational activities, outdoor games, sports, and arts & crafts.
• Ability to create an engaging, positive, and inclusive environment for campers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High-energy, enthusiastic, and dependable with a passion for working with kids.
• Ability to handle camper behavior issues in a calm, constructive, and professional manner.
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to camp).

Schedule:

• Part-time, seasonal position (dates vary depending on camp schedule).
• Flexibility to work Monday through Friday during camp hours (with possible evenings or weekends for special events).

Compensation:
Depends on experience.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
