We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Youth Cooking Instructor to lead and teach kids and teens at our cooking camp. As an instructor, you will guide young aspiring chefs through hands-on cooking lessons, helping them develop kitchen skills, creativity, and a love for cooking in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate cooking lessons for children (ages 5-12).
- Teach fundamental cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and food hygiene practices.
- Create engaging lesson plans, including themed menus, recipes, and activities.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of all campers during class and camp activities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment, encouraging creativity and teamwork among campers.
- Provide individualized instruction and guidance to help each camper build confidence in the kitchen.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen space before, during, and after cooking sessions.
- Communicate regularly with camp leadership about camper progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Assist in camp set-up, tear-down, and any other required camp activities.
- Be a role model for good eating habits, healthy food choices, and positive kitchen behaviors.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience teaching children or leading cooking classes is preferred.
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
- Ability to engage and inspire young learners with creativity and patience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards.
- A positive, energetic, and professional demeanor.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to camp).
Preferred:
- Culinary degree or certification.
- Experience with summer camps or working with children in an educational setting.
Schedule:
Part-time, seasonal (dates vary depending on camp duration). Flexibility required to accommodate camp schedule.
