What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Pool Manager position at City of Manassas?

The selected candidate supervises department employees, which involves such duties as instructing, assigning and reviewing work, maintaining standards, acting on employee problems, appraising employee performance.
Maintains swimming pool and facility; monitors, regulates, and records pool chemical levels; monitors and regulates temperature of pool water; checks pressure; fills chlorinator; checks pump valves; washes filter; diagnoses pool water and administers appropriate chemicals; vacuums and skims pool; cleans deck areas, restrooms, locker rooms, walkways, and pool furniture; stocks paper goods; maintains related documentation.
Enforces pool rules; maintains discipline at facility; takes preventive safety actions; conducts swim tests; rescues distressed swimmers; provides emergency first aid and CPR; performs other emergency life-saving services as trained and as needed.
Works with allied associations, such as the swim team; ensures positive and effective relationship with swim team.
Develops work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and to maintain safety of patrons; creates and distributes weekly staff schedules.
Takes daily deposits to Treasurer's Office; counts cash drawers; prepares bank deposits; verifies counts; maintains related documentation.
Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and regulations; maintains an awareness of new methods, equipment, and trends in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; participates in and provides continuing education activities; attends and conducts meetings, conferences, workshops and training sessions as appropriate; certifies lifeguard staff in lifeguarding, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, AED, and first aid.
Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as employee availability, water quality results, staff feedback, and directions from supervisor.
Prepares and/or processes a variety of documentation such as water quality results form, deposit forms, reports, and employee schedule.
Refers to pool operator handbook, opening and closing duty binder, pump room reference guide, water quality results, staff feedback, policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws / regulations, publications and reference texts, etc.
High School diploma or GED; supplemented by two years of progressively responsible experience in lifeguarding, aquatics instruction or related field; or other equivalent combination of education and experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.A swim test will be required to maintain employment with the City.
Must possess and maintain the following certifications: Pool Operator, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and First Aid; may be required to possess additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the City.
Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver's license.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Salary : $19 - $22
