In this role, you'll perform essential construction and maintenance work to keep our streets, utilities, and public facilities in top condition. From repairing roadways and sidewalks to assisting with utility projects, you'll be making a real impact every day.

The pay rate for this position is $19.21 per hour.

What You'll Do:
- Perform construction, repair, and maintenance, including concrete and asphalt work, of City streets, sidewalks, curbs, and drainage systems
- Patch holes, compact road surfaces, maintain drainage systems, install/repair/cut pipe, construct/repair ditches, clear drainage obstructions, clear ditches/gutters, break up pipes and concrete, mix cement, install fences
- Excavate and grade sites, dig holes/trenches and shovel/spread/level materials (dirt, sand, gravel and base, concrete, asphalt, etc.)
- Operate a variety of tools, equipment, and vehicles for road maintenance and repair tasks
- Assist with traffic control, marker, cone, and signage installation, and roadway safety measures
- Respond to emergency situations such as storm clean-up and hazardous roadway conditions

Valid Virginia Driver's License
Street Department employees must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) including appropriate endorsement(s) within six months of hire.
Any individual selected for this position will be required to undergo a post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check, driving record check, education/employer verification, along with a physical and drug screen.
