The City of Manassas is looking for a qualified candidate tooversee a variety of semi-skilled functions related to monitoring and controlling the City’s SCADA system for the electric & water utilities, supervising its operation and ensuring the safety of the City’s generation sites and generation facilities.
Hiring Range for this position: $100,942.40 - $138,798.40
The Systems Operations & Generation Manager directs the execution of all planned and emergency switching orders and coordinates distribution nonreclosing activities; ensures completion of regular updates to electric system maps, diagrams and system board to the existing system; and maintains all generation data for annual reports required by Department of Environmental Quality.
The selected candidate will have a comfort level directing the operations for the City’s electric load demand reduction programs (Load Management/ Demand Response, Generation Dispatch, and Voltage Reduction). The Manager will also have oversight of all generation programs to include dispatching generation facilities as required by the purchase power contract with Dominion Virginia Power.
The position requires an Associate’s degree and completion of Level I and Level II of the City of Manassas System Operator certification program or an equivalent accredited System Operator certification program; supplemented by five years of experience as a Senior Utility Systems Operator; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
The successful candidate must be willing to work outside of normal hours to assist in electrical restoration, emergencies and maintain communications at all times with operations. Must have a valid state driver’s license. Must obtain NERC certification within 24 months of employment.
