PAY RANGE - $21.00 - $29.94/hr - plus a comprehensive benefits package
General Statement of Duties:
Provides support and technical advice to victims of domestic violence crimes prosecuted by the City Solicitors Office in the Manchester District Division of the State of New Hampshire Circuit Court; performs directly related work as required.
Examples of Essential Work:
- Serves as a non-confidential advocate for victims of domestic violence crimes;
- Provides guidance and advice as to the functions and purposes of various stages of case investigations and court procedures;
- Relays information as to the status of a case, explaining criminal justice terminology and related;
- Performs all duties of the position in a highly-professional, victim-centered, trauma-informed manner and in full compliance with the State of New Hampshire Victims Bill of Rights and all relevant portions of the State of New Hampshire Office of the Attorney General: A Model Protocol for Law Enforcement Response to Domestic Violence Cases;
- Serves as an advocate for victims in domestic violence criminal cases, providing support and information regarding their participation in the criminal justice system;
- Assists victims with engaging with the prosecutors and the courts;
- Provides initial consultation and support for victims of domestic violence;
- Assists in connecting these victims with services and support from a wide range of community providers;
- Assists victims of domestic violence in seeking compensation from the State of New Hampshire Victims Compensation Fund;
- Encourages victims participation in investigative and prosecutorial activities and explains to them the critical role of a witness within law enforcement investigations and prosecutions;
- Attends court proceedings at the direction of the assigned prosecutor;
- Monitors all phases of misdemeanor domestic violence court trials and relays pertinent information back to victims and witnesses in the case;
- Participates in the coordination, organization and facilitation of training programs related to domestic violence, victim advocacy, victim services, criminal prosecution and community resources;
- Performs follow-up interviews with victims, as requested;
- Manages victim-related data, case reports, case dispositions, correspondence and other information, documenting all phases of case activity in the case management system prescribed by the Office of the City Solicitor;
- Interfaces, as necessary and as directed by the Office of the City Solicitor, with the Record Management System (RMS) of the Manchester Police Department;
- Obtains and maintains current National Crime Information Center (SPOTS) system certification and accesses criminal records as necessary and as directed by the Office of the City Solicitor;
- Provides assistance in seeking and maintaining grant funding, including maintaining and providing data and reports and other information regarding victim services provided through the Domestic Violence Unit;

Acceptable Experience and Training:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Psychology, or a closely related field; and
- Considerable experience in social service delivery or victim services; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Required Special Qualifications:
- National Crime Information Center (SPOTS/NCIC) certified (or obtain within 1 year of date of hire).
