Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Department: Parks and Recreation Department
Reports to: Recreation Maintenance Foreman
FLSA Status: non-exempt
SUMMARY
Coordinates and engages in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings and maintaining grounds. Supervise part time employees and community service employees. Perform the following duties.
Essential Job Functions:
- Keep all restrooms clean and maintained.
- Performing daily maintenance checks on Recreation Complex.
- Participates in painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings and outdoor structures.
- Coordinates mowing grass, weed eating throughout park properties and emptying trash cans.
- Assists in repairs to pools at the Recreation Complex and seasonal opening of the outdoor pool.
- Performs simple electrical repair jobs, ie: repair electrical outlets, check and repair appliances, replace fuses and breakers, perform initial electrical diagnostics.
- Perform general plumbing repairs of restrooms, pools, and concessions as examples.
- Interface with the Recreation Maintenance Foreman to coordinate work schedules and maintenance tasks and budgeted maintenance needs.
- Conduct themselves in a poised and professional manner with general public, contractors about facility repairs and use.
- Provide Recreation Director and Recreation Maintenance Foreman with information about material costs and obtain bid prices on maintenance projects.
- Completes and maintains work orders and maintenance records.
- Develop with the Recreation Maintenance Foreman a prioritized list of year-round maintenance and preventive maintenance projects, and fit these into a time schedule.
- Litter pick of grounds.
- Willing to acquire needed knowledge on ball field maintenance and grooming.
- Any other duties assigned by the Recreation Director.
- Ability to operate and maintain small machinery and power tools.
HOURS OF WORK
- Full-time year-round position
- Hours will vary depending schedule of events and some weekend work is required.
- Will be available for major special events, including those that occur on holidays.
- Hours over 80 in two-week pay period with be compensated with overtime.
QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE/Education:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- A minimum of two years of experience in maintenance of fields, performing tasks outlined above, or two years vocational training in either, electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.
- Ability to work with the general public in a poised and professional manner.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Should be able to communicate effectively both in written form and orally.
- Person should have the ability to fill outreport forms and work orders.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to measure accurately
- To compute dimensional of space
- General computational skills, such as calculators.
REASONING ABILITY
1. Ability to set priorities of tasks and fit into a schedule.

1. Must have a valid Drivers License
