Summary
Direct lifeguards and swim instructors in the absence of the Aquatics Manager and Assistant Aquatics Manager for his or her assigned shifts. Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that pool chemistry is within ideal ranges by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage lifeguards and swim instructors during assigned shifts.
Test, maintain, and record basic pool chemistry as directed by the Aquatics Manager.
Ensure that all safety protocols are followed to ensure guest and staff safety at all times.
Enforce the Parks and Recreation department’s policies and procedures.
Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the aquatics department and other areas of the complex as assigned.
Lifeguard as needed.
Teach swim lessons as needed.
Light mechanical room maintenance.
Administers chemicals, in prescribed amounts, to purify pool water.
Maintain daily records pertaining to pool chemical levels.
Works some evenings and weekends regularly.
Oversee swim lesson programming for his or her assigned shift.
Ensure that swim lessons and instructors are following MRD swim lesson guidelines.
Use our swim lesson software and department wide software for payments, enrollments, and lesson tracking.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises lifeguards and swim instructors during assigned shifts.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or experience
At least two years of lifeguarding experience preferred.
At least one year of management experience in an aquatic environment preferred.
GED or equivalent degree
Language Skills
Must have excellent communication skills to instruct and direct clearly all lifeguards and guests. Written skills must include ability to write and read.
Mathematical Skills
Must be able to compute basic math equations for pool prescribed chemical dosages as directed by the Aquatics Director.
Reasoning Ability
Must be able to work independently and make decisions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED. Lifeguard Certification through the American Red Cross.

Must be able to tolerate a pool sanitized by chlorine.
