Starting Wage: $30.00/hour Closing Date: 04/01/2025
Shift/Workdays and Hours: Variable (Sunday afternoon/evening and some weeknights)

Position Purpose: Adult Basketball Officials will officiate MPRD adult Basketball Men’s or Women’s League games. These leagues are scheduled to run February through April for 2025.
Job Duties
- Officiate Basketball games.
- Work with supervisory staff to assure the accurate setup of the playing surface and assist supervisors, as needed, by helping with tear-down at the end of the event.
- Notify, instruct, and correct customer/participant behavior that is deemed inconsistent with athletic facility rules in a fair, timely, and polite manner.
- Provides excellent customer service and possesses a service philosophy which reflects the mission for the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative professional working relationships with others, individually and in a team environment.
- Possesses characteristics of a strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to details.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills and Additional Qualifications
- Ability to learn NFHS Basketball rules and mechanics.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of NFHS rules and officiating mechanics and signals.
Other Information?
- This is not a KPERS covered position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Work facilities vary but typically include the Anthony and Eisenhower Recreation Centers, and the Peace Memorial Civic Auditorium.
- Work may be performed on a variety of days but is generally performed Sunday evenings.
- Noise level and activity level will be varied.
- Stands, walks, jogs, sits, uses hands, handles, feels, speaks, hears, climbs stairs, pushes, pulls, or lifts up to 20 pounds.
