What are the responsibilities and job description for the Code Enforcement Officer - Part Time position at City of Manistee?
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Chief of Police or their designee, the code enforcement officer is responsible for inspection and enforcement of city ordinances related to property maintenance, nuisance, and blight complaints; provide follow up inspection to ensure compliance.
Essential Job Functions:
Duties include but are not limited to: receiving and responding to complaints; responding to public inquiries and providing guidance; enforcing city ordinances as directed; performing field inspections, issuing warning letters and/or citations; creating informational materials; preparing and filing reports; preparing public notices; and other related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years and a U.S. citizen with a valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Must possess high school diploma or equivalent, associate degree preferred.
- Able to successfully pass all phases of the selection process, including an extensive background check, physical examination, and drug screening test.
- Prior law enforcement or code enforcement experience preferred.
- Officer applicant shall be held to the same personal qualifications and criminal conviction disqualifications as a sworn police officer.
