What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Page position at City of Manitowoc?
This position will work 10 hours per week. Prepares, sorts, repairs, shelves and retrieves library materials in a timely and accurate manner to ensure patrons and staff are able to locate items of interest easily and quickly. This position also provides basic customer service. To ensure success, the employee will uphold the established core competencies of communication/customer service, professionalism/leadership, productivity/teamwork/attendance, job knowledge and following policies and procedures.
- SHELVERS: Maintains the order and neatness of collections throughout the library
- Sorts material prior to shelving
- Inspects contents of returned AV material to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Shelves material to proper locations throughout the library with a high attention to detail
- Shifts library material as needed
- Shelf-reads to ensure accurate location of material
- SHELVERS: Retrieves material for staff and patrons
- Searches for library materials from printouts and lists
- Provides patrons with basic directions to library locations or refers to appropriate personnel
- Enforces the library’s policies and procedures and works to support safety and security of the library building and grounds
- PROCESSORS: Prepares materials for the collection
- Applies plastic jackets, book tape, call number labels, property stamps, security and any repackaging of material that is needed
- Cleans and resurfaces AV material using specialized equipment
- Repairs book bindings using specialized equipment
- Repairs material to as close to original state utilizing resources provided
- Shelf-reads to ensure accurate location of material
- PROCESSORS: Assists the Materials Technicians
- Unpacks new material, applies barcodes and RFID tags
- Shelves new magazines
- Assists with withdrawing from the collection as directed
- Enforces the library’s policies and procedures and works to support safety and security of the library building and grounds
- Must be at least 16 years old due to scheduling requirements
- No experience required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to represent the library in a responsible, professional and trustworthy manner
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
- Ability to maintain a calm demeanor under stressful or unsettling circumstances
- Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions

- General mathematics skills

Salary : $9 - $11
