- Must possess a high school diploma or GED and be enrolled and attending college or technical college level courses in chemistry and/or biology, such as, but not limited to, analytical chemistry, general chemistry, microbiology, or limnology amounting to approximately 10 credit hours.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive in the state of Minnesota.
- Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job proficiently may be substituted for the above requirements.

- Performs analysis, including, but not limited to pH, total suspended solids, total solids, hardness, biochemical oxygen demand, fecal and total coliform, E-coli, Ortho and Total Phosphorus, nitrates, alkalinity, volatile acids, sulfides, and ammonia.
- The Laboratory Intern will pick up samples from local businesses/industries/municipalities and transport to the laboratory for analysis. May also be required to sample other areas including farm fields, manholes, creeks, river or other portions of the sanitary or storm drain system.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of chemistry as applied to the treatment of water, wastewater, and industrial wastes.
- Knowledge of tests and procedures in sampling and testing water.
- Basis knowledge of computers, ability to use Word, Outlook, and Excel software.
- Ability to assist the Chemist and to perform frequent and complex chemical tests and analysis.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships.

Working hours are flexible, Monday through Friday, 20-29 hours per week, with some weekends as needed.
Job Location / Equipment Utilized:
The Laboratory Intern will work primarily at the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) or Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF). The job requires driving to various sample sites to collect water or wastewater samples. The Intern must have the mobility and agility to move about each site as the work demands dictate. The Intern must be skilled in the use of standard laboratory instruments and apparatus associated with conducting water or wastewater and treatment analyses. Additional equipment includes, but is not limited to, the following: utility cart. This position does require the operation of an automobile.Salary : $18
