Responsibilities
- Assists in the administration of the Microsoft network, including managing user and email accounts, monitoring disk space usage, configuring and installing Windows PCs, laptops, and mobile devices, and troubleshooting Windows environments and various PC-related issues.
- Assists in the administration of several citywide software applications, including LaserFiche, Milestone Video Surveillance, SQL, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365.
- Handles day-to-day help desk requests.
- Manages network backups and restores.
- Oversees software patching and deployment.
- Provides training and ongoing support to end-users.
- Utilizes Track-it Help Desk to track and manage work orders.
- Conducts ongoing research and recommends ideas to enhance the technology infrastructure throughout the City.
- Microsoft Windows network administration, including network management, troubleshooting, security, and reporting.
- Personal computer hardware and software deployment, troubleshooting, setup, configuration, and repair.
- Modern computer operating systems, including the latest versions of Windows (desktop and server), and the Microsoft 365 suite of applications, including Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online.
- SharePoint Online implementation, management, and collaboration tools within Microsoft 365.
- Voice over IP (VoIP) telecommunications systems and unified communications platforms.
- Networking hardware and peripherals, including switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls.
- Cybersecurity principles, practices, and tools for securing systems and networks.
- Organize and prioritize work effectively.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships both within and outside the office.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain mental capacity conducive to effective interaction and communication with others.
Qualifications
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered.
Need to have:
- Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of recent experience in technical computer support, including strong troubleshooting skills for hardware and software issues.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Server.
- Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid Minnesota Driver’s License.
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience working within IT for a municipality.
- Experience with any of the following: Micrsoft 365, SharePoint collaboration, scripting languages, patch management, application deployment, document imaging (LaserFiche), VOIP (Cisco), IP video system (Milestone Surveillance), VPN and remote access, mobile computing (Panasonic Toughbooks, CradlePoints), and experience with tablestand smartphones both iOS and Android.
- Ability to speak multiple languages
